Letter to premier Eby
Dear Premier,
I want to comment on the Proposed Emergency and Disaster Management Act under debate now.
Having experience the fires in my North Shuswap community of Celista last summer, and the undemocratic and dictatorial way the police and government behaved in its wake, I see the proposed legislation as a way to force yet more centralized dictatorial laws on Canadians!
This sort of legislation will not help disaster mitigation in any way. It will make it much more inefficient, as we saw last summer. The best way would be much more financial support for local remediation.
What this legislation will do is promote a sort of fascist police state, where the Nazi motto of ”shut up and follow orders” will replace democracy (=rule by the people). We do not want any sort of “communo-fascism” in Canada!
I used to vote NDP — most of my life in fact — but that was not what the NDP has become now! Forget my support in the future — if of course free election are still allowed!
For the time being I will support any Party that opposes this sort of creeping Fascism in BC, unless this legislation is dropped immediately!
Sincerely,
Eva Lyman, MCRP
