BC extended state of emergency
Bowinn MA, {NDP}, Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness says, that province is extending state of emergency until September 14 due to ongoing wildfires. The state of emergency was initially declared on August 18.
“While many people have returned home, tens of thousands of British Columbians remain under evacuation order or alert due to wildfires,” said Bowinn Ma. “We’re continually assessing the situation – which can evolve quickly – and will enact emergency orders to ensure the safety of people in our province as needed.”
Ministry of the Emergency and Climate Readiness was created December 7, 2022 as a response to “ Covid 19 pandemic and climate related disaster.” British Columbia has been disproportionately impacted by climate change disasters, from unprecedented forest fire seasons, including the historic fire in Lytton, to atmospheric rivers that washed out our highway system and almost overwhelmed the pump and dyke system in Abbotsford, impacting directly the livelihoods of many farmers in the Fraser Valley, Premier David Eby* noted in mandate letter.
“People across the province are experiencing the escalating impacts of climate change emergencies, and they are counting on us as their provincial government to keep them and their families safe,” Ma told Gloria Macarenko on CBC’s On The Coast . Ma continued: “A standalone ministry dedicated to emergency and climate response demonstrates our government’s commitment to be prepared for, and mitigate the impacts of disaster.”
It’s getting crystal clear, that current political establishment likes power in their hands. Years ongoing mismanagement, bureaucratic irresponsibility and political corruption bringing the results in every aspect of life of British Columbians. And state of Emergency? As a great Russian writer and outspoken critic of communism Aleksander Solzhenitsyn said: ”A state of war only serves as an excuse for domestic tyranny.”
*David Eby is un-elected premier; he was named as a leader on BC NDP and declared as Premier of BC October 21, 2022.
