The World is rising
On Monday, January 15, thousands of German farmers, truck drivers and agricultural workers have gathered with tractors and other heavy equipment in front of the Brandenburg Gate in central Berlin for a demonstration against the government’s plans to end tax breaks on diesel fuel.
It was estimated that at least 3,000 tractors had arrived for the protest on Monday and an estimated 2,000 more were on their way in a climax to weeklong protests.
Germany’s farmers already took to the streets of Berlin late last year to express their fury over government plans to end a subsidy on diesel used in agriculture as part of savings in the 2024 budget.
German’s economy is struggling, because of planned “Carbon neutral policy” and sanctions against the Russia is decimating German industry.
Romanian farmers and truckers resumed protests Monday after negotiations with the government failed Sunday, mirroring similar demonstrations in Germany.
The protests, which began on January 10, have disrupted traffic in several cities, including the capital Bucharest, as farmers and truckers air grievances ranging from high taxes to delayed compensation payments.
Over the weekend, protesters also gathered in border areas, partially blocking the north-eastern border with Ukraine.
Farmers are demanding faster payment of subsidies and compensation for those affected by drought or disruptions caused by Ukrainian grain imports. Truckers, meanwhile, are concerned about increased insurance and tax rates and long waits to cross the border.

Last week, Texas National Guard blocked federal Border Patrol agents from accessing a 2.5- mile long stretch of the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas and took control over of a park of Rio Grande River. Federal agents were on the way to remove razor wire fencing installed by the state of Texas along a 29- mile stretch of the border with Mexico.
Biden administration seeking immediate permission for federal Border Patrol to U.S. Supreme court about the case, but Texas responded that removing the razor wire fencing refutes the federal government’s intended purpose of enforcing immigration policy. “Defendants may not ‘seek judicial blessing of practices that both directly contravene those same statutory obligations and require the destruction of the Plaintiff’s property,'” the state said, citing a district court’s ruling in the matter.
And Canada? Canada is still like “Sleeping Beauty”, but there are hundreds of groups working independently on various issues and is just a matter of time, when will it all brings significant effect.
