WAR ON VERNON’S MORALS & PRINCIPLES
Vernon is under attack. But you won’t see tanks rolling down the street. This is not a physical attack. It is an assault on our morals and principles. And the only way to win this war is if each individual person puts their values ahead of anything else when confronted with the bizarre situations that have recently besieged our once quaint town.

Perhaps you have seen the recent information that went viral on social media regarding the School Board and their take on school books that illustrate what many would consider ‘cartoon porn’ disguised as sexual education for elementary school-aged children in Vernon. Granted some parents might think of themselves as forward-thinking and progressive when they give these books the thumbs-up. But there is a very large number of community members who are not okay with sexualization of minors. Even a book about incest between a father and his two twin girls was found in some school libraries. This book (‘Identical’), has been recently removed from shelves but unless and until school libraries are closely monitored, Vernon parents have lost complete control over what their children are exposed to and when. Speaking of exposure, are all Vernonites aware of the recent incident at the Vernon Aquatic Centre? You know, the one where two 14-year-old girls were getting ready to change for their life-guarding class only to be confronted with full-frontal nudity of 50-year-old male genitalia?!?! Well, it was all excused because there is a federal law that permits people to use the change room with which they identify. For one, what kind of ‘woman’ would put a female child through the trauma of seeing this! Secondly, what is wrong with the people who work at the Centre? Does protecting our children not trump everything else?! Perhaps they suffer from hyper-inclusivity disorder, a common condition these days. Yes, inclusivity. Another weapon used to confuse many and degrade our morals. God forbid we get accused of not practicing inclusivity to its fullest. This is how the Drag Queen Freida Whales has made his way into our public institutions without much resistance. From fun night entertainment for adults in night clubs, to story-time for innocent children in safe public spaces, within a blink of an eye. In fact, the Vernon Art Gallery, even after much push-back from the community and having viewed the video of Drag Queen Freida Whales promoting murder and cannibalism, decided to go ahead with their Feb. 10, 2024 story-time ‘inclusivity-event’ hosted by this drag man. The Vernon Okanagan Regional Library also continued with their Freida Whales event on Jan. 27, 2024, after much public outcry. Luckily there is some good news. There are heroes in this war! Take the owner of Vernon’s Status Nightclub, Saverio Loria. This man has had many entertainers in his club for over three decades from all walks of life. Upon finding out that Freida Whales works with autistic and special needs children in Kelowna while also depicting himself murdering and engaging in cannibalism on video, the owner decided that this was not the drag queen he wanted at his establishment. Unfortunately, even this noble decision has angered the confused and amoral amongst us, and the nightclub owner has been viciously attacked on social media. He has been called a bigot and a homophobe. His business has been assaulted with bad ratings, and booked events have been cancelled. But lose some, win others. Life has a way of balancing out. Virtuous decisions always lead to the highest reward.
Folks, let’s sum this up. The truth is, all the bizarre absurdities that have been taking place in Vernon come from the top down. The rules are put in place by our Federal and Provincial Government. And instead of looking out for the best interests of its citizens, particularly our precious children, our city council has done nothing but sit back while collecting tax-payer salaries. The result? Division and a breakdown of the moral fabric of our town. But Vernon is waking up. One by one we are finding the courage to stand up even if we must do so alone. Our deeply rooted Canadian values of kindness and acceptance of others is alive and well but make no mistake, we will always put the safety and well-being of our children first. No drag queen, confused citizen, city councillor, misguided school trustee or other public servant will stand in our way. So move aside. We are taking our city back.
