Residents served packages to CSRD against 5G tower

March 2, 2023 was the deadline for the public to propose or deliver their concerns regarding the 5G Cell tower proposals in Sorrento. While digitalization and the wireless industry are exponentially growing, there are big questions about the risks of these technologies. Local residents are worried about health, the environmental, and other concerns with this project. For these reasons, about twenty people showed up for the silent protest at the last CSRD board of directors meeting in Salmon Arm, on February 16^th. The reportage is in the link below.

On March 2, 2023, concerned Shuswap residents delivered to a representative of Columbia Shuswap Regional District {CSRD} informative packages about the harmful impact on human health, pollinators, and nature as a complex. This was another step in the efforts to put a n end to continuation of  this project, besides all mails, e-mails, and phone calls. which have been already been submitted, The community representative Una St. Clair delivered the documentation in person to CSRD planner Jan Thingsted.  Documentation includes following evidence and accompanying letter:

1. 350 individually signed Petitions from local constituents to Natalya Melnychuk and the CSRD requesting to absolutely stop and terminate the installation of the Telus Cell Tower proposed for 1030 Dilworth Road, Sorrento, B.C.

We now advise you that the CSRD policy requirement for a full public consultation has not been fulfilled given the refusal to allow a delegation at regular board meetings or the setting up of a special public meeting by the CSRD despite repeated public requests. A parody of a public consultation was thrust upon Sorrento residents by the Telus agents’ complete manipulation as hosts of a digital process which denigrated and sabotaged the public’s ability to provide input in a reasonable and respectful manner. This manipulated digital platform did not allow any recognizable process for the 200+ person public group assembled in the Sorrento Memorial Hall on February 23, 2023, who wanted to share concerns in a respectful way, given time and platform to do so. It was a sham process, a contrived digital meeting which was null and void due to the complete control exercised by the Telus agent’s overuse and shutting down of both the mute and camera function within the public’s computers. Many of the public attending the meeting to express their views on the proposed installation became understandably upset with the lack of platform for open discussion. We state here and now that the consequence of our elected representative’s unwillingness to engage in a meaningful and open manner with the public in her purview has caused a serious deprivation of each resident’s right to participate in local government and democracy. This needs to be remedied with a full and proper public consultation before any decision is made regarding the proposed cell tower on Dilworth Road in Sorrento, B.C. You must ask yourselves if there is evidence to show that this chronic, 24/7 microwave radiofrequency radiation exposure is safe for anything and anyone, or if there is evidence of harm. Please consider the fact that something which is categorized as a W.H.O. Class 2B health risk, a possible causation of human cancer, cannot be considered safe, and that there is a growing body of evidence compiled over many decades which shows definite risks to health of all life forms. You, as our elected officials, are our first line of defense, and we request that you examine the evidence of harm provided to you herein with the due care and attention required of your office. At this point in time, we do not see that you have done your due diligence required by your office on the overwhelming scientific studies which give clear evidence of harm from chronic low level microwave radiofrequency radiation, nor have you consulted with experts on both sides of this scientific divide. To consult mainly with the telecom industry, its agents, and ISED does not constitute you fulfilling your requirement of due diligence owed to the public.

More and more studies are showing, that risks and hazards prevail over any benefits not just with regard to 5G, but with regard to every wireless technology. 5G, also known as the 5th generation cellular communications technology, has unique properties that set it apart from all the previous “G”enerations. The introduction of the extremely high frequency millimeter wave bandwidths within the microwave spectrum are weapons targeting the population, illustrated by the introduction of new delivery systems and propagation techniques such as beam forming technologies, phased arrays and others, without limit, and the introduction of a flood of new bills to fast track this new technology robbing people and their local cities and counties, even local tribes and historic preservation sites, the right to control their own communities and homes of any 5G/4G cell antenna placement by private corporations.
