Police brutality in Ottawa
Since “Freedom convoy 2022” arrived in Ottawa center, for the last 3 weeks millions of people have gathered there without any safety risk, without any hazard or any inconvenience. No incident occurred, nobody was under threat. Until Friday, February 18th, when under the order of interim Ottawa police Chief Steve Bell, Police officers took the enforcement action against peaceful protestors with permission to used all tools, including tears gas, rubber bullets, police on horseback, and sonic blast (high-frequency alarm gun).

February 14th, The Liberal government changed the strategy after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet invoked the emergency act, which replaced the War Measures Act from 1988.
Wednesday, February 17th, deputy minister and minister of finance Chrystia Freeland announced, banks started to freeze accounts linked to the “Freedom convoy 2022”. The RCMP and other enforcement agencies infiltrated the convoy of protesters and their supporters to gather information about financial transactions, to share this with financial institutions to restrict access to cash and cryptocurrency. Chrystia Freeland said:” “The consequences are real and they will bite!”
Since Friday, February 18th, police forces have built up metal fences to block access to the city center and create corridors for towing trucks. The police officer pushed people, without any hesitation and respect for elders and women. Police on horseback pushed the protestors and fell over a couple of people, including an older lady with a walker. Please watch the video below.
After that incident happened, thousands of people saw that on live stream and millions later on, Ottawa police published on Twitter the following statement, which was absolutely not true. Later on, all mainstream media took this statement and spread that big lies worldwide.
Despite very cold weather and obstacles, more and more people joined the protest sides on Friday afternoon. People were so peaceful, so kind, very nice, but super disappointed with police actions.
As of Saturday, the tension between protestors and Police forces arose, just because aggressive behavior of police officers. People created the human chain to keep the hold of the line and braved out to police action.
The Police officers used tears gas and rubber bullets to break through the human chain. There was no information released about injured people.
As of Sunday, Ottawa police released information, that from Friday 170 people have been arrested. One of them was Daniel Bulford, an ex RCMP officer, who peacefully turned himself into authorities after he found out Police have been seeking him. After a couple of hours, he was released by a judge without any charge.
On Friday and during the weekend some trucks have been towed from the center of the capital city by towing trucks, with a lot of them didn’t have license plates. Drivers who drove those towing trucks mostly wore full face masks, to protect their identity.
Mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson says that vehicles seized by Police should be sold. He said:” “We actually have the ability to confiscate those vehicles and sell them. And I want to see them sold. I don’t want the return to these people who’ve been causing such frustration and angst in our community.” Jim Watson didn’t explain by what kind of legal regulations he wanted to act like that.
Despite scare tactics from officials, people are still joining the protest in Ottawa and throughout all country. The very big one happened in Alberta, where a couple of thousands of people marched via streets in Calgary city center.
Salmon Arm was one of the cities joining the “Freedom movement.” On Highway 1, over 150 people showed their stand and supported the idea of pro-choice life without medical restrictions and mandates. Local concerned residents were very disappointed with the latest Liberal government activities and also with enforcement police action in Ottawa. As one protestor said:” We are heading to medical apartheid and most of the people still didn’t realize that. They are blinded by comfortable life and mainstream media!”
