Freedom rally in Salmon Arm- Tribute
A nice sunny Saturday day contributed to a great “Freedom rally” that occurred in Salmon Arm, on January 28. Rally was organized by local activists to show support for Freedom convoy Tribute 2023, which hold a tribute to Freedom convoy 2022, and drove through the town in the late afternoon hours. The Freedom convoy Tribute 2023 started in Kelowna and went through Merritt, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Vernon, and back to Kelowna.
People started to gather alongside Highway 1, close to Centenoka Park Mall around 2:00 PM, bringing their own flags and mostly homemade signs. They welcomed each other with big smiles and warm hugs. Numbers were slowly growing, and red maple leaf flags soon coloured one side of the highway. Bypassing vehicles honking at protestors to show support.
When the first trucks and vehicles from the convoy hit the town, already fiftyish people welcomed the convoy by waving flags, signs and big smiles. The vehicles in the convoy nicely decorated with the Canadian and provincial flags slowly rolled out into town and took a short break in the parking lot. A lot of vehicles were marked with various quotes and expressions, all topping to freedom and unity. People from the convoy joined the local protestors to “say hi” and have a quick chat. Later on, the convoy left the town to follow a planned route down to the south, and people spread back to their homes.
During the protest, local activists distributed newspaper Druthers and other informative flyers. Signatures for the petition against the discriminatory BC Bill 36- The Health Professions and Occupations Act were also collected.

People who joined the protest also presented their stand about the current government and the situation in the country under the liberals’ control. They were so unhappy with the way how Trudeau’s’ cabinet is governing this country, how the so-called “pandemic” was handled, and with the mandates and restrictions which are still in place. As one presented person says: “ This government wants total control over our lives, we are heading to pure communism*!”
