Last weekend Canadians proved that they can stand up for freedom in unity. Thousands of truckers in Ottawa, hundreds in cities and towns Canada-wide. All supported by thousands of people in the streets and millions from Canadians homes. But Canadian flags were presented across the globe too. People in Bolivia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, and other countries waived with Canadian flags to support this incredible movement.
The world has been overflooded with videos and pictures from Canada. Social media and the full internet share stories from our country. Even mainstream media can not ignore anymore these huge events and started publishing information about the protests. Of course, as the proverb says:” Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”, mostly in a negative or critical way. Liberal government approved nearly 600 million CAD for media for the years 2019- 2023. Minister of finance said:’ The government wants to protect the vital role that independent news media play in our democracy and in our communities.”
Prime minister Justin Trudeau and his family left his residence before “truckers” arrived in the capital city due to security reasons. On Monday, Justin Trudeau announced that he was tested positive for Covid 19 and he will stay in isolation. In press conference also answered the question if he wants to meet with protestors in Ottawa said: “ I had no interest in going anywhere near protests that have expressed hateful rhetoric and violence toward their fellow citizens. He continued: ” So those responsible for this behavior- it needs to stop! Canadians at home are watching in disgust and disbelief at this behavior, wondering how this could have happened in our nation’s capital.” Justin Trudeau encouraged Canadians to get vaccinated, get a booster and promised to continue with pandemic measures. The Prime minister did not comment on his own words in the interview for Quebec broadcast on 30th 2021 since then. Video below.
Since Saturday, January 29th hundreds of people with semi-trucks and vehicles have protested on Highway 4 from Alberta to the U.S. border to support the protest in Ottawa. They promised to stay until the end. The border crossing still remains open.
Big changes are happening in Canadian society. More and more people don’t trust the government anymore and don’t agree with the work done by the cabinet of Justin Trudeau for the last couple of months.
A great and a very honest speech gave Canadian NHL legend Theo Fleury in an interview for Fox News on Tuesday night. As he said:” In Canada, we have one of the biggest revolutions happening. Rig now there’s 50,000 truckers and 1,4 million people heading to the parliament in Ottawa. And they’re going to stay there until Trudeau resigns, or they give us back all our freedoms and rights.” For more please click on the link below.

Another famous NHL player, a sports commentator, and writer Don Cherry on Friday for Toronto Sun said: “I am 100% behind the truckers. They are salt of the earth and the heartbeat of the country.” Cherry also commented on his viewpoint for vaccine mandate:” It should always be a person’s own choice. I have had three shots but it was my decision. I did not tell anybody else what they should do and would never tell anybody what they should do. It’s up to them.”
Canadian “Convoy for freedom 2022” inspired people around the globe and they started to prepare similar truck- cars convoys in multiple European countries, Australia and U.S. Avalanche has started.
Online donations for truckers exceeded 9 millions CAD from over 116,000 donors.

Sunday, Salmon Arm residents again gathered alongside Highway 1 close by Centenoka mall. For a couple of hours, people cheered and waived with signs and Canadian flags. Kids joined the parents too and really enjoined the time. People from Shuswap signed also an ongoing petition against the vaccine mandate for CSRD and City of Salmon Arm staff and contractors.
